Message from Professor Greta Westwood – Chief Executive Officer
Please accept our very warm welcome to your Florence Nightingale Leadership Programme. This document outlines all the key information you will need to make the most of this opportunity. It includes the learning outcomes for the overall programme and each individual session.
Programme
- Our unique leadership programme is for Band 7 clinical leaders and ward managers at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The primary aim is to build their confidence and capacity as both leaders and coaches, enabling a sustainable approach to leadership development. In addition to the 3-day leadership programme, there is an additional module focused on facilitating co-consulting, a group based coaching technique. This will enable clinical leaders to develop their coaching stills, create a coaching culture and continue to support the workforce in critical care post FNF programme.
- Aim
- To develop nursing and midwifery leadership identity, capacity, and capability to influence organisational and patient outcomes at a local, systems, national and international level of healthcare delivery.
- Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate enhanced awareness of how personality preferences influence personal effectiveness and improving performance in teams.
- Identify and critically appraise opportunities to influence through personal and collective authority.
- Develop strategies to express self in a manner which communicates presence, enables influence, and has impact.
- Explore personal resilience and develop tools for staying effective under pressure and holding challenging conversations.
- Formulate and put into practice plans which contribute to improved outcomes for patients and staff underpinned by evidence and quality improvement methodology.
- Develop skill and confidence in facilitation with a specific focus on co-consulting – a method of peer group coaching underpinned by action learning.
